Towards a National Strategy for Sustaining Natural Resources and Enhancing Food Security
Abstract
Food security is a great goal that many countries of the world strive to achieve. in fact; what concerns researchers and officials is not food security per se, but rather the problems and obstacles that prevent it from being achieved, and what must be done to overcome them to reach that goal. The experience of Libya in its development path over the past decades has made it clear that there are many achievements that have been made, and at the same time, many negatives have emerged that must be remedied in the future. These can be considered as the main ingredients for future work, and they can form, in their entirety, the main pillars of what should be included in the future work strategy in the agricultural sector, and the various programs and activities that can contribute to the sustainability of natural resources and enhance food security.Establishing a strategy for agricultural development, and implementing it at the level of Libya entirely or at the level of each region in Libya, to achieve the principles of sustainable development and guarantee for future generations their rights to all non-renewable natural resources, will have a positive economic impact on both the general level, the level of sectors, and the level of individuals. In this participation, the focus was on the challenges facing agricultural natural resources and food security in Libya, and a review of the modern technological applications used that can be used in the management of natural resources and their development to achieve sustainable development and enhance food security, including the development of agricultural transactions and farming systems techniques, and the policies of localizing and disseminating modern technologies.
In order to facilitate effective decision-making processes, a number of key issues were raised, on which the foundations and objectives of the National Action Plans to sustain natural resources and enhance food security could be defined.
